Hello All
I had never heard of this piece of junk untill last weekend when a friend phoned me for assistance to get his machine cleaned up. This garbage would load each time the machine would boot. It then went into a complete system scan & report several thousand trojans etc.
Using Task Manager was of no help as the process files would immediately reappear. Once I figured out which services were running & disabled them, I was able to kill it. I then used several registry tools to complete the job.
I agree completely with your statement "Antivirus XP 2008 (AntivirusXP2008) is an extremely dangerous and annoying rogue anti-spyware".
Thanks for your article.

Antivirus XP is a very annoying thing. If your computer gets it, it will lose its windows display schemes. The windows will change color and you will lose your ability to change the background or the screensaver. This article is helpful. Also Spybot is helpful in finding the bad registry keys.
Once you remove the actual program you need to go to Registry & fix the desktop settings...it also will put fake screensaver that is a blue screen of death and "Acts" as if it's rebooting but it's only a screen saver....genius.
Hi, I have not press the Agree and Install for Antivirus XP 2008. Everytime I open the PC the screen pops-up. What do I need to fix and HOW? How do I access the registry. Thanks
Yeah, i'm having the same problem in that i didn't click on the "Agree and Install" button, but i'm still getting the Agreement popping up every time i reboot. This seems to be all its doing, its not running any fake scans and report millions of trojans etc,and ctrl-alt-del seems to get rid of it. It's still annoying though, so any help would be appreciated to get shot of it permanently...
cheers
Ocko
I am in the same boat I get the pop up that says Antivirus XP 2008 license agreement, agree and install. I cant seem to find what is making it pop up though... please help.
it is a piece of rough software which pretend to be anti-spyware but is a spyware itself.
go to report the fraut at;

That's a terrible piece of malware; it's able to create random filenames which makes it difficult to make a universal removal guide suitable for all infected PC's. According to some of the victims I know that XP antivirus 2008 is able to change startup screen of Real Player to display its ad.
